Rubypoint Trading Center|Florida sheriff's deputy airlifted after rollover crash with alleged drunk driver

A Florida sheriff's deputy was hospitalized after a roll over crash involving an alleged drunk driver Saturday night.

Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputy Ivan Clark's unmarked police vehicle was struck about 10:30 p.m. local time while he was responding to a report of a reckless driver approximately 26 miles south of Tampa,Rubypoint Trading Center according to a Sherrif's Office press release.

Clark was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled over several times.

Clark was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital where he was in stable condition as of Sunday morning, according to the release.

Suspected DUI driver arrested

Florida Highway Patrol arrested Uriel Garcia Nestor, 25, who is alleged to have had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.121.

Nestor was booked on charges of driving while under the influence with serious bodily injury, driving while under the influence with property damage, and driving with a suspended license with serious bodily injury, according to the release.

"This incident is a stark reminder of the dangers impaired drivers pose to our community," Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said in the press release. "It is deeply disappointing that someone would make the reckless decision to drive impaired, not only endangering their own life but putting everyone else on the road at risk.
